Risks of Weight Loss Surgery

​There are many risks that are associated with weight loss surgery that every person, man or woman, needs to actually be aware of. There are various complications that can arise from the many types of weight loss surgery. That is why it is important for every candidate to have a doctor check them to make sure that they are in good health to undergo a weight loss surgery. Death is certainly one of the risks that are associated with weight loss surgery. This only occurs if a number of precautions are not taken correctly.

There are also many people who end up with many other types of complications. 88% of people that came out of a study of 299 patients, suffered adverse reactions after weight loss surgery. These could of all ranged from mild, moderate, to severe. 51% suffered from nausea and vomiting, 34% suffered from gastroesophagel reflux, 24% suffered from band slippage/pouch dilatation, and 14% had stoma obstruction. Many people end up needed additional follow up surgeries after any type of weight loss surgery, to make sure that everything is still in place, and their health hasn't been affected.

There can be a lot of other affects that are also associated with weight loss surgery. Some patients end up suffering from difficulty swallowing, constipation, and even diarrhea. This only occurred in 9% of patients. It is important that you go over all of the risks that you can stay aware of them prior to surgery. If this is a risk that you still want to take, then that is definitely up to you. You can only make this decision for yourself. A person who is in terrible health, should not attempt any weight loss surgery, because they are more prone to complications. Instead, they can find an alternative for weight loss.
