?People have found having lap band surgery can be an amazing aid for weight loss. Numerous individual have found the ability to control their portions and make adjustments easily when necessary. This made their weight loss far easier than losing weight would have been on their own. Unfortunately not everyone qualifies for this surgery. Your Body Mass Index and health conditions will be what is most highly reviewed to determine if you are eligible for the surgery.

Your doctor also needs to determine if you have any conditions that will complicate having the lap band, or the surgery its self. If you are over weight is because of a disease or illness doctors may not be able to perform the surgery. If you are prone to blood clotting you may have complications during the surgery and even after. Some conditions, like high blood pressure, will often be improved with the surgery even though there are risks. When talking to your doctor, make sure you fully disclose all of your health conditions and are aware of any risks.

Most adults will need to have a Body Mass Index (BMI) in the range of 35-39. If your BMI is within that range, your doctor will also be checking to see if your health has been negatively impacted by to your weight. If your BMI is higher that forty they will no longer need proof that your weight is affecting your over all health. There may be other considerations if you are under 18 or over the 55.

Your overall health is also determined by lifestyle choices. Diet, exercise, smoking will also be looked at in consideration for the surgery. It is your responsibility to take care of yourself before and after the surgery if you are looking to receive great results.
